Link Popularity within the Site's Internal Link Structure

Internal link popularity is also a top factor. As an SEO that prefers the onpage/onsite factors I find having the ability to control link popularity a great asset to ranking efforts.

Link popularity in general refers to the popularity of a webpage and is derived within the algorithms by looking at the total number of links to a webpage, then counting the links, then running advanced filters on the links.

The age of a website

"I just had an idea, a great idea, an idea revolving around a keyword and a market that as yet has not been exploited. I logged into my domain registrar, purchased the domain for approximately $10 per year for five years, threw up a few pages of content, and created thousands of dynamic pages. It only took me an hour and a half."

Using the Keyword in the Root Domain Name

Having your keywords in the root domain name is extremely important if you can fit it in somewhere. Now it is often very hard to find domains with your keywords no-in-days, but if you happen to get your hands on one somewhere it is a no-brainer that you need to have your keywords in your domain.

Keyword Use as the First Word(s) of the Title Tag

Having a keyword used as the first word or words of the title tag is also a very important factor, as far as on page factors is concerned this is currently the second most important factor.

Years ago while in college I took an internship at a local pharmacy as a management trainee. One of things I learned there was how valuable shelf space and especially end of isle shelf space was to marketing a product. This is kind of a marketing junction if you will, a place where all the products on that row come to an end, and another row begins.

Keyword Use Anywhere in the Title Tag

Use of the keyword you are targeting anywhere in the title is the most important factor in on page SEO. How can you ever rank for a keyword or keyword isn't even described in the page title of the document?

Imagine having thousands and thousands of papers to go through in the library and unless the paper had a descriptive title in the title a close quick skim examination may never give you what you wanted unless the author of the paper at the time took the time to name the document accordingly.

Global Link Popularity of Site

The more links on the net pointing to a website, the more the votes there are for that website. Think of each link as an individual vote that carries a differing weight. Think of a scale of 0 to 1. With a zero meaning the link has little or no value at all, and a one meaning the link has a maximum value.

So 1000 links from low quality websites may not mean much at all. Think of the math behind this, 1000 x .001 would equal 1.

In comparison 10 links from high-quality websites may be 10x1 equals 10.

The Anchor Text of Inbound Links

The Anchor Text of Inbound Links

Okay so I started SEO as an on page specialist. For the longest time I really didn't want to believe that inbound links meant so much, but at some point the evidence became overwhelming and I was forced to deal with the cold hard truth, inbound links are 50% of effective SEO efforts.

The Importance of Keyword in the Page Title

I was recently contracting with a corporation who had never ever heard of SEO before I contacted them, I actually had a connection with the CEO and over dinner one evening I suggested to the gentleman that he have someone on his web team do one simple thing and change the page titles of the most important web pages on their website.

Less than six months later, sure enough just by doing that they were appearing number one on a keyword very closely related to what they wanted to be ranked for, although not exactly the phrase they wanted.

My SEO Book.

I have spent the last four years of my life learning about search marketing with a special focus on search engine optimization and pay per click. I recently made the decision to put all this information in one location and offer it to the general public while I compile it into a "book". Actually, I am really writing a thesis, because my ultimate goal is to be a college professor and teach the various techniques of website marketing to students at a university. Therefore welcome to my SEO book. I would like to thank some people that have helped me along the way.
