Twitter SEO
Twitter SEO is an easy, quick way to add to your search marketing efforts. It is not very hard at all to quickly add a twitter account with a new email you create on your company domain, or in Gmail, Hotmail, Y-mail, etc..
Once you have created an email, proceed to twitter to set up a new account for your marketing objective. Once you have your account created, set it up. It is very easy to set up an account with SEO in mind.
First you need to make sure to fill out all your setting appropriately for your marketing objective. Put an adequate description, and hopefully you know your most valuable keywords (probably the ones in your homepage title or meta tags). Stuff these keywords in as best you can, but take care not to make the description unreadable.
Next, change the page background to something cool, maybe your companies logo, a cool graphic, or something that will be more engaging that the typical default twitter background.
Next, and probably the most important setup factor there is, make sure to pick your number 1 keyword and chose it as your URL path. You can change this later if you decide to change your marketing objective, but for now pick the best one your research indicates.
The next most important setup factor is the URL that you chose to use. This can help you considerably if you chose it right. It should reinforced your primary marketing keyword objective. For instance, if you have multiple brand names and you are not ranking for one of your secondary brand names, or an abbreviated version of your brand name, then you should pick a url with that secondary brand name specifically with the keywords in the URL. (if you have not already purchased your secondary brand name or brand name variation domains, now would be an excellent time to spend the $10 a year and do so.
Setup should now be complete, and you can go back at anytime and alter these settings if you need to.
Now you need to get some followers. So a Google search for "yourkeyword site:twitter.com" and add all the people you see, as many as you like. If there are 1000's of pages, then you can add them all if you have the time or manpower. Hopefully a percentage of them will follow you back and thus you now have some followers.
Use twitters built in search feature to search for people with your keyword objective in mind. Also go ahead and add the people twitter recommends, as it if very quick and easy.
We also recommend putting at "follow us on twitter" button on your website, and in the footer of your emails. One of the best ways to get lots of followers is to find places where you can post your twitter account to a page like these:

There are many programs out there that make this easy. One of the best I've seen is twitter-adder because it automates the process of gaining followers. You will need to spend some money to get it, but it is definitely work it as I've seen small business built on it.
There are other programs out there as well, go ahead and do a search for "twitter software" and see for yourself all the good products out there.
There is also just plain being popular on the radio, news, TV, or getting your name out there by actually talking to people and telling them verbally about your twitter account. Then there is actually be interesting enough for people to follow you randomly. To do this, you really need to concentrate on quality content.
Next you need to start tweeting. Some software allows you to automate this process as well, however what we suggest is for you to use some sort of pinging or feeding system. This will automatically feed all your social feeds every time you create a new article on you main website. If you set it up correctly, you can get 30-50 new inbound links as soon as you create a new article on your site.
Next be aware of some of the things that will bring people, and trust to your page. When you tweet, mention others by using the @ symbol then their url. For instance if you wanted to mention me, which I hope you do whenever possible, in your tweet you would want to put "@robertseo" which will create a link to my twitter page.
If is easy to see who has done this for you. Use http://search.twitter.com or http://twitter.com/#!/search-advanced and just type "@yourname" to see who has mentioned you. It is always nice to thank them with tweet back, or a RT (re-tweet).
Another little twitter trick I found for SEO is to use the # symbol to mention a subject of your choice such as "@robertseo is an excellent #seocoach." There was a time when you could gain considerable trust from having comments in a place like this http://twitter.com/#!/search?q=%23seo, and all you have to do to be there for a bit is to put the # somewhere in your post. This tactic works best if you find a highly trusted page, but one that isn't updated very often so that your post stays in the top tweets for a while. For example, this is probably a good one for us, http://twitter.com/#!/search?q=%23seocoach.
There you go, that is Twitter SEO in a nutshell. There are other things you can do, but we have to save some tricks for when you hire us. =)
